Eligibility Criteria (Education, Experience & Marks)

  • Cut-off date for age/experience/eligibility: All eligibility criteria shall be reckoned as on the last date of submission of the application (30.12.2025).
  • Minimum Educational Qualification: Full time Diploma in Engineering in Mechanical / Production / Production & Industrial / Manufacturing / Mechanical & Automobile discipline.
  • Domain of Experience: Experience in the relevant field of Engineering.
  • Minimum Post-Qualification Work Experience required: 02 Years.
  • Higher qualification eligibility: Candidates possessing higher qualifications (Degree / PG Degree) in the same discipline are also eligible.
  • Minimum marks requirement: General/EWS candidates and SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PwBD candidates applying against Unreserved posts should have minimum 50% marks in the minimum qualification. Reserved category candidates (SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PwBD as applicable) should have at least 45% marks in minimum qualification for consideration against reserved posts.
  • Recognized qualification: Degree/Diploma recognized by AICTE/BTE (as applicable) from a University incorporated by an Act of Central/State legislature in India or institutions established by an Act of Parliament or deemed university under UGC Act, 1956. Sections A & B examination of the Institution of Engineers (India) treated as equivalent to Degree by Govt. of India and recognized by AICTE shall also be accepted.
  • CGPA/DGPA to Percentage: If percentage is not indicated on certificate/marksheet, the candidate must provide the conversion formula issued by the university/institution. If the university/institution does not have a conversion formula, an undertaking signed by authorized representative must be submitted; in such cases minimum 5 on 10 point scale will be considered as 50%.
Experience counting note: Training (except on-the-job training) / internship / teaching / academic / fellowship / PhD research experience shall NOT be counted as experience. Apprenticeship training (as per The Apprenticeship Act 1961) in relevant discipline/area shall be considered for minimum post-qualification experience required for the post, subject to fulfillment of all other eligibility criteria.

Selection Process

Selection consists of two phases: Phase I (Written Test) and Phase II (Document Scrutiny).

Phase I: Written Test

  • Weightage: Written test weightage is 100%.
  • Qualifying Marks: Minimum 50% for UR/EWS; 45% for SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PwBD against reserved posts.
  • Questions: 125 objective type questions, 1 mark each.
  • Duration: 2.5 hours.
  • Negative Marking: No negative marking (no marks deducted for incorrect answers).
  • Compensatory Time: PwBD candidates are eligible for 50 minutes compensatory time.
  • Language: Candidates can appear in Hindi or English.

Phase II: Document Scrutiny

Important: Documents uploaded during submission of online application form will be scrutinized by RITES. Only information filled in the online application form will be considered. No additional information will be allowed at later stages.

  4. EWS/SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwBD certificate in prescribed Govt. of India format (wherever applicable)
  5. Proof of Identity & Address (Passport/Voter ID/Driving License/Aadhaar Card etc.)
  6. PAN Card
  7. Proof of each period of experience claimed in the application form in a single PDF in chronological order (offer letter, joining order, relieving letter, service certificate, relevant pay slips etc., as applicable)
  8. Any other document required in support of candidature and claims submitted in the online application form

Nature & Period of Engagement (Contract)

  • Based on the result of the written test and vacancies, provisionally shortlisted candidates after document scrutiny will be placed in a panel to be considered for deployment based on project/company requirements.
  • Offer(s) will be issued only based on requirement of project/company received from time to time, or approval of CV by the client (wherever applicable), and fulfillment of criteria for deployment in projects.
  • Empanelment against a vacancy does not guarantee selection/right to job; deployment depends on project/company requirement.
  • Appointment is purely on contract basis initially for one year, extendable until completion of assignment, subject to mutual consent & satisfactory performance; continuation depends on requirement and performance/conduct.
  • Engagement is subject to being found medically fit in the medical examination as per RITES Rules and standards for the relevant post.

How to Apply (Online Application Process)

  1. Before applying, ensure you meet all conditions and requirements of the position.
  2. Apply online in the registration format available in the Career section of RITES website.
  3. On submission, system generates a Registration No. on top of the online form. Note it for login and all communication.
  4. Fill the application carefully and correctly. Ensure all relevant documents are available for later stages (originals to be produced if called).
  5. Upload all documents under the “Upload Document” section after filling/modifying application form.
  6. Make online payment under the “Make Payment” section. After successful payment, download final application form and keep a copy for selection process.
  7. Experience proof: submit copies of experience certificates from previous employers at document verification. For current employment submit experience certificate/joining letter with last month salary slips or Form 16 and other documents proving continuity. If claim is not established from proofs, candidature is liable to be rejected.
  8. Reservation certificates must be in prescribed formats and valid on the crucial date (last date of submission of application). For OBC-NCL, certificate should indicate non-creamy layer status and should not be older than one year on crucial date.
  9. Hard copies of documents are not to be sent by post/courier.
  10. Original testimonials/documents along with one self-attested copy must be produced at time of selection (if called).
Important: Incomplete application or insufficient proof at document verification can lead to rejection. No additional information other than those furnished in the application shall be allowed to be considered at a later stage.

Reservation Certificate Requirements (OBC-NCL & EWS)

OBC-NCL: Candidates must belong to OBC Non-Creamy Layer. In addition to OBC community certificate, a declaration (as per Annexure III) that the candidate does not belong to creamy layer on the crucial date is to be furnished during document verification. OBC-NCL certificate should not be older than one year on the crucial date. If not compliant, reserved status will not be entertained and candidate will be considered under UR (if eligible).
EWS (Valid for FY 2025–26): Candidates applying under EWS must possess Income and Asset Certificate on the crucial date (last date of submission of application) as per Govt. of India format. If not compliant, EWS reserved status will not be entertained and candidate will be considered under UR (if eligible). OBC-NCL and EWS candidates may be afforded opportunity to submit valid certificate at joining, valid as on the crucial date.

  • Date of acquiring qualification: earliest of (i) last day of month in which final exam held (or exact exam date if stated), (ii) date of declaration of result, (iii) date of issuance of marksheet, (iv) date of issuance of degree. No relaxation on this account.
  • Where specialization is required in qualifying degree, candidate must submit certificate from University/Institution clearly specifying specialization.
  • Mere applying/submitting documents/appearing or qualifying does not confer right to selection. If eligibility is not fulfilled, candidature will be rejected.
  • Candidates must submit all details (personal, educational, experience, category etc.). Suppression detected later renders candidature liable for forfeiture.
  • Candidates should submit only one application; once submitted cannot be altered. A valid email ID is essential; RITES not responsible for email bouncing.
