Eligibility Criteria

  • Essential Qualification: Full-time Three Years LL.B. or Five Years Integrated Law/LL.B. course with not less than 60% marks or equivalent CGPA as per the formula provided by the Institute/University.
  • Relaxation in Marks: For SC/ST/PwBD candidates, minimum 45% marks are acceptable.
  • Nationality: Only Indian nationals aged 18 years or above are eligible to apply.

Compensation and Salary Details

Stage Details
During Training Basic Pay ₹40,000/- with IDA, HRA, and perks @12% of basic pay
After Regularization Officer (Law) at E-2 Level in Executive Cadre; Pay Scale ₹50,000-3%-1,60,000 (IDA)
CTC (Approx.) During Training: ₹11.00 lakhs per annum
After Completion: ₹22.50 lakhs per annum

The compensation package includes Basic Pay, Dearness Allowance, Perquisites and Allowances as per the cafeteria approach, Performance Related Pay, Company Leased Accommodation or HRA, Reimbursement of conveyance, mobile and laptop facility, PF, Gratuity, Pension & Leave encashment, Group Insurance, and Medical facilities for self and dependents. Group Personal Accident Insurance and other employee benefits are also available.

Service Agreement Bond

The selected candidates will be required to execute a service agreement bond to successfully complete the prescribed training period and thereafter serve the organization for at least three years.

  • For General/OBC (NCL)/EWS Candidates: ₹5,00,000/- plus applicable taxes
  • For SC/ST/PwBD Candidates: ₹2,50,000/- plus applicable taxes

Selection Process

The selection process consists of multiple stages to ensure a comprehensive assessment of candidates’ legal aptitude, behavioral skills, and professional suitability. The stages are as follows:

  1. CLAT 2026 (for admission to Post-Graduation)
  2. Behavioral Assessment
  3. Document Verification (DV)
  4. Group Discussion (GD)
  5. Personal Interview (PI)
  6. Pre-Employment Medical Examination

Weightage for Final Score

  • CLAT 2026 Marks (Post-Graduation): 85%
  • Group Discussion: 3%
  • Personal Interview: 12%

Qualifying Marks

  • Unreserved (UR) Category: 40%
  • Reserved Categories: 30%

Only candidates who qualify separately in CLAT 2026 and the Personal Interview will be eligible for empanelment. Shortlisted candidates will be called category-wise based on CLAT 2026 marks in the prescribed ratio for GD and PI.

  1. Candidates must appear for CLAT 2026 (Post-Graduation). Registration closes on 31st October 2025.
  2. After obtaining CLAT 2026 Application and Roll Number, candidates must register on the POWERGRID website (https://www.powergrid.in).
  3. Navigate to Careers → Job Opportunities → Executive Positions on All India Basis → “Recruitment of Officer Trainee (Law) through CLAT-2026”.
  4. Upload the required documents (photograph, signature, DOB proof, qualification certificates, mark sheets, category certificates, PwBD/Disability certificate if applicable).
  5. Pay the application fee (if applicable) via the online payment gateway.
  6. Retain the submitted application printout for future document verification.
  7. Candidates are not required to send hard copies to POWERGRID.
