Qualification and Eligibility Criteria

  • Essential Qualification:
    • Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science OR
    • M.Tech / M.E. in Agricultural Engineering / Civil Engineering / Water Resources / Hydrology / Environmental Engineering / Environmental Sciences / Remote Sensing & GIS / Geoinformatics / Computer Science / Computer Applications / Geology (or equivalent).
  • Selection Criteria:
    • Scholars qualifying National Eligibility Tests (CSIR-UGC NET including Lectureship / Assistant Professorship) and/or GATE.
    • National level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their agencies/institutions such as DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, etc.
  • Desirable Qualification:
    • Experience in hydrological or hydrodynamic modelling and dam break analysis.
    • Good programming knowledge and experience in remote sensing and GIS software.

Employment Type

The appointment will be purely on contract / temporary basis and is co-terminus with the project. The post does not confer any right for regularization or continuation after project completion.

  • TA/DA: No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview. However, selected candidates may be entitled to TA/DA during official project work within India.

Age Limit

General Conditions

  1. Professionals with requisite qualifications and experience as prescribed would be eligible for the appointment of above posts.
  2. Selected candidates will be engaged for a fixed period for providing high quality services to the Institute for specific and time-bound projects.
  3. The appointment would be on a full-time basis and candidates shall not take up any other assignment during the consultancy period with NIH.
  4. The appointment is purely temporary on co-terminus basis and does not entitle the appointee to any claim, implicit or explicit, for any regular NIH post.
  5. The appointment can be terminated by the Institute at any time without assigning any reason.
  6. The initial term of appointment and subsequent extensions shall be decided on a case-to-case basis depending upon specific job requirements and project duration.
  7. Selected candidates will not be entitled to allowances such as Dearness Allowance, Residential Telephone, Transport Facility, or Personal Staff.
  8. Transit accommodation may be provided as per prevailing rules of the Institute. Applicable license fee shall be charged, and accommodation must be vacated upon tenure completion or termination.
  9. Selection of candidates will be made through Walk-in-Interview. No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
  10. No TA/DA shall be admissible for joining the appointment on contractual basis. Selected candidates will be allowed TA/DA for official travel within India related to project work.
  11. Outstation candidates are required to make their own boarding and lodging arrangements at Roorkee.
  12. Number of posts may increase or decrease depending on project requirements.
  13. Candidates must ensure that they fulfill eligibility criteria before appearing for the interview.
