Eligibility Criteria

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from State Council for Engineering & Technical Education or its equivalent.
  • Candidates with higher qualifications in Mechanical Engineering are also eligible.

Age Limit

  • Maximum Age: 37 years as of 1st January 2025.
  • Relaxations:
    • SC/ST (West Bengal): 5 years
    • OBC (West Bengal): 3 years
    • Persons with Disabilities (40% or above): Up to 45 years
    • Ex-Servicemen: Period of actual military service deductible if resultant age does not exceed limit
    • Candidates from other states will be treated as General candidates

Reservation Details

The reservation benefits will be provided as per the Government of West Bengal rules for SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, EWS, PwD, and Ex-Servicemen candidates.

For EWS Candidates: Must produce valid Income & Asset Certificate issued by District Magistrate/Additional District Magistrate/Sub-Divisional Officer or District Welfare Officer (Kolkata Municipal Corporation areas). Reservation will be guided by Notification No. 325-PAR(AR)/3P-1/2019 dated 09.07.2019 and subsequent Gazette Notifications.

Application Fees

  • UR, EWS, OBC: ₹200 (₹150 application fee + ₹50 processing charges)
  • SC, ST, PwD: ₹50 (processing charges only)
  • No exemption of fees is available for SC/ST/OBC candidates of other states.
  • Fees are to be paid online through BillDesk at the official website.
  • Note: Fees once paid are non-refundable under any circumstances.

Selection Process

  1. Written Test (OMR-based Objective Type)
    • 200 marks
    • 100 multiple choice questions
    • Duration: 2 hours
    • Negative marking applicable
  2. Personality Test (Interview)

Syllabus: Based on Diploma Level Mechanical Engineering syllabus as approved by AICTE.

Application Process

  • Applications must be submitted online only through the official website.
  • Scanned documents of Qualification, Age, Caste, PWD, EWS, and Ex-Serviceman certificates must be uploaded along with the application.
  • Each candidate is allowed to submit only one application; multiple applications will lead to cancellation.

Additional Instructions

  • Candidates must submit a bond on ₹50 Non-Judicial Stamp Paper, agreeing to arrange temporary lodging/shelter within the Kolkata Municipal Corporation area for emergency duties as required.
  • Candidates currently working in Government/Semi-Government/Statutory Bodies must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer at least 7 days before the Personality Test.
  • Bag & Baggage, Mobile phones, Calculators, Watches, Pagers, and any other gadgets are strictly prohibited inside the examination center.
  • Frisking will be done at entry points; arrangements for safe-keeping of banned items will not be available.
  • Candidates must carry one original photo identity proof (Aadhar Card, Voter ID Card, Driving License, Passport, PAN Card, or Bank Passbook with photograph) to the examination center.
  • If any candidate remains absent at any stage of the recruitment process, his/her candidature will be cancelled.
