Application Process

  • Applications are to be submitted online only through the official website of WBSSC.

  • Candidates must fill all details carefully as corrections will not be allowed after submission.
  • Admit cards will be available only online at least 7 days before the examination.

Eligibility Criteria

Post Educational Qualification Age Limit (as on 01.01.2025)
Clerk (Group C) Passed School Final/Madhyamik or its equivalent, or old HS in lieu of School Final/Madhyamik, on or before the last date of application. Minimum 18 years and maximum 40 years
Group D Passed Class VIII from any recognized or affiliated school or its equivalent, on or before the last date of application. Minimum 18 years and maximum 40 years
Note: Age limit will be considered as on 1st January 2025.

Age Relaxation

  • SC/ST Candidates: 5 years
  • OBC Candidates: 3 years
  • Physically Handicapped Candidates: 8 years
  • Candidates who received age relaxation as per Supreme Court Civil Appeal No. 4800 of 2024 (dated 03 April 2025) are also eligible.

Reservation Details

  • Reservation will be as per Government of West Bengal rules.
  • Certificates for SC/ST/OBC/PH/EWS must be issued by competent authorities of the Government of West Bengal.
  • Candidates from other states will be treated as General category without any relaxation.

Selection Process

  1. Written Examination
  2. Evaluation of Academic Performance
  3. Prior Experience
  4. Interview (including Typing-cum-Computer Proficiency Test for Clerk only)
  • Question papers will be in English and Bengali.
  • Each candidate can apply for only one region and one medium.
  • Merit lists will be prepared region-wise, category-wise, and gender-wise.
  • There will be no negative marking for wrong answers.

Panel Validity and Waiting List

  • Each panel and waiting list will remain valid for one year from the date of first counselling.
  • May be extended by up to six months with prior government approval.

Medium of Vacancy

Candidates must have passed the language used as the medium of instruction in the concerned school, as a first, second, or third language subject, as specified in the NTS Rules, 2025.

Additional Instructions

  • Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates identified as “tainted candidates” in Civil Appeal No. 4800 of 2024 (dated 03 April 2025) are not eligible to apply.
  • Incomplete or incorrect applications are liable to be rejected.
