Job Location
The selected candidates will be posted at various district Mobile Forensic Units (MFUs) across West Bengal, including but not limited to Kolkata, Jalpaiguri, Malda, Durgapur, Murshidabad, Siliguri, Howrah, Hooghly, Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Bankura, Purulia, Birbhum, North & South 24 Parganas, Nadia, Medinipur, Jhargram, and CID units.

Salary / Remuneration
- Scientific Officer: Rs. 35,800/- per month (Professional Tax and Income Tax will be deducted as per Government norms)
- Scientific Assistant: Rs. 28,900/- per month (Professional Tax and Income Tax will be deducted as per Government norms)
- Driver: Rs. 16,000/- per month (Professional Tax and Income Tax will be deducted as per Government norms)
Eligibility Criteria
Scientific Officer
- First Class Master’s Degree in Forensic Science from a recognized University or equivalent.
- Must be FACT (Forensic Aptitude and Caliber Test) qualified.
Scientific Assistant
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Forensic Science from a recognized University or equivalent.
- Must be FACT qualified.
Driver
- Must be a resident of West Bengal.
- Must have passed Class VIII from a recognized school.
- Must possess a valid LMV Driving License for at least 02 years as on 01.01.2025.
- Minimum 02 years of driving experience in Government / Quasi-Government / Registered Private Limited organizations.
Age Limit
Upper age limit for all posts is not more than 40 years as on 01.01.2025. No age relaxation details are mentioned in the notification.
Tenure of Appointment
The engagement shall be purely temporary and contractual for a period of one year. The contract may be renewed for a further period of one year at the discretion of the Appointing Authority.
Selection Process
- Scientific Officer & Scientific Assistant: Selection based on FACT score followed by Interview.
- Driver: Driving Test followed by Interview.

Duties and Responsibilities
Scientific Officer
Observing and documenting crime scenes, photography, sketching, collecting and preserving physical evidence, maintaining chain of custody, briefing investigators, coordinating with police and medical staff, and operating mini forensic laboratories in district MFUs.
Scientific Assistant
Assisting senior officers in evidence collection, documentation, photography, preservation of evidence, maintaining chain of custody, and supporting forensic investigations and laboratory analysis.
Driver
Operating forensic vehicles, transporting forensic teams and equipment, ensuring vehicle readiness, and securely transporting evidence under strict chain-of-custody protocols.

- No TA/DA will be paid for attending tests or interviews.

- Local candidates will be given preference for posting in concerned districts.
- Selected candidates must undergo medical fitness and character verification.
- Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) is mandatory at the time of joining.
- Failure to complete verification formalities within stipulated time will lead to cancellation.
