Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Mandatory: Master's level degree in Economics with specialization in Monetary Economics, Financial Economics, or Econometrics from a recognized Indian or Foreign University / Institute
  • Preferred: Doctorate degree in areas of Money, Banking, or International Finance from a recognized University

Post Qualification Experience

  • Minimum 15 years of work experience as an Economist in a Commercial Bank, Financial Institution, or other reputed Corporate Organization
  • Teaching experience as Lecturer / Professor in Economics in a College or University will also be considered
  • Combined experience as an Economist and in teaching is acceptable
  • Candidate should possess excellent communication skills supported by participation in various economic fora
  • Contribution to leading publications will be an added advantage

Job Profile and Responsibilities

The Group Chief Economic Advisor is a strategic role and will serve as the Bank's principal economic expert. The selected candidate will head the Economic Research Department at SBI Corporate Centre, Mumbai and provide strategic inputs on national and global economic developments to the Bank's top management.

  • Prepare periodic economic outlook reports for internal decision-making
  • Support business strategy, treasury operations, and risk management with economic forecasts
  • Represent the Bank in economic forums, policy discussions, and industry interactions

Selection Process

  1. Shortlisting: Mere fulfilment of minimum qualification and experience will not entitle a candidate to be called for interview. The Bank's shortlisting committee will decide parameters and shortlist adequate candidates.
  2. Interview: Interview will carry 100 marks. Qualifying marks will be decided by the Bank.
  3. CTC Negotiation: Negotiation will be done in merit order. If a candidate does not agree to the negotiated CTC, it will be treated as voluntary exit from the recruitment exercise.
  4. Merit List: Merit list will be prepared in descending order based on interview marks only.
  5. Tie-Break Rule: In case of common cut-off marks, candidates will be ranked in descending order of age.
  6. Final Selection: Top-most candidate in merit list with successful CTC negotiation will be selected.

Salary, Leave, Increment and Notice Period

  • Variable Pay Eligibility: Subject to minimum 90% marks in performance appraisal
  • Annual Increment: Up to 10% of finalized annual CTC from second year onward, subject to minimum 90% performance score
  • Leave: 30 days during the financial year for genuine and appropriate reasons
  • Notice Period: 3 months from either side or payment/surrender of 3 months' compensation in lieu thereof
  • Call Letter: Interview intimation will be sent by email or uploaded on Bank's website; no hard copy will be sent

Reservation, Conditions and Important Notes
