Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • MBBS or MD in Allopathic system of medicine from a University/College recognized by the Medical Council of India / National Medical Commission.
  • Applicants holding an MD (Medicine) degree will be given preference.

Experience Requirements

  • For MBBS degree holders: Minimum 5 years of experience as a General Practitioner as on 01.11.2025, calculated from the date of registration with MCI/NMC/State Medical Council. Internship experience is not counted.
  • For Post-Graduate (MD) degree holders: Minimum 3 years of experience as a General Practitioner as of 01.11.2025. Internship experience is not counted.

Nationality Eligibility

  • Indian citizens
  • Subjects of Nepal and Bhutan
  • Tibetan refugees who came to India before 1 January 1962
  • Persons of Indian origin migrated from Myanmar and Sri Lanka intending to settle permanently in India with a valid eligibility certificate issued by the Government of India

Age Limit

  • Maximum age should not exceed 67 years as of 01 November 2025.

Contract Details & Remuneration

Contract Duration Initially 3 years (reviewed annually). Eligible for extension up to 2 more years based on performance.
Termination Clause 1-month notice required by either party to terminate the contract.
Remuneration Rs. 1000/- per hour
Conveyance Allowance Rs. 2000/- per month
Compounding Fees (If Applicable) Rs. 1000/- per month
Leave Policy 20 days of leave per year

Job Responsibilities

  • Visiting the bank’s dispensary at office premises or staff quarters.
  • Attending to medical needs of staff, dependents, and pensioners.
  • Providing prescriptions, administering injections, and supplying ordinary drugs.
  • Issuing sick leave certificates and countersigning certificates submitted by employees.
  • Issuing order forms to approved chemists for special or costly medicines and submitting copies monthly for bill settlement.
  • Arranging hospital facilities for employees and dependents (spouse and children).
  • Scrutinizing medical and hospitalization bills of employees and pensioners.
  • Ensuring smooth and efficient operation of the dispensary.
  • Providing emergency sessions and telemedicine consultations.
  • Offering medical opinions for transfer requests made on medical grounds.
  • Assisting the bank in any other medical matters.

Other Conditions

  • The appointment is purely on contract basis; the BMO will not be eligible for benefits available to part-time or full-time permanent employees.
  • Only the services of a compounder are allowed; no additional support staff can be engaged.
  • The Medical Officer must make arrangements for a substitute during absence at their own cost.
  • The bank reserves the right to revise remuneration or duty hours based on administrative needs.
  • The bank may alter eligibility criteria or reject any application without assigning any reason.
  • Canvassing in any form will lead to disqualification.
