The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, invites applications for the engagement of Young Professionals (YP) at its headquarters in Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi. The notification was released on 27th June 2025.

Vacancy and Salary

Eligibility Criteria

General Young Professionals

  • Master’s in Economics (preferably with International Trade)
  • Master’s in Law
  • MBA in Management
  • Graduate in Engineering (B.E./B.Tech) or Master’s in Science (MSc. etc.)

Young Professionals (Multimedia/Designing)

  • Graduate in any discipline with diploma/degree in Graphic Design/Multimedia
  • Proficiency in Adobe Suite, Canva, CorelDraw, and video editing tools
  • Creative thinking and relevant certifications desirable

Age Limit

Candidates must be below 35 years of age as on 1st July 2025.

Selection Process

The selection will be based on scrutiny of educational qualifications and experience submitted by the candidates. No specific details about tests or interviews have been provided in the notification.

Working Hours and Leave Policy

  • Working hours: 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM on working days, including a half-hour lunch break.
  • In case of work exigencies, YPs may be required to work on Saturdays/Sundays/holidays and sit late hours.
  • Leave entitlement: 1.5 days of leave per completed month (non-cumulative).
  • Up to 1 month leave may be allowed without pay, with prior approval.
  • Maternity leave as per Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Act, 2017 applies for women YPs.

Other Terms and Conditions

  • Engagement is purely temporary and contractual.
  • Initial term is for one year, extendable up to three years total.
  • No claim or right for further engagement or permanent government job shall be entertained.
  • Required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement and Non-Compete Agreement with a cooling-off period.
  • Must submit a Statement of Good Health and Medical-cum-Fitness Certificate from an authorized medical practitioner.
  • Must submit Police Verification Report from local police station prior to engagement.
  • Shall abide by the Official Secrets Act, 1923 and maintain confidentiality of all official data and documents.
  • Shall not represent or publicize their engagement with DGFT for any commercial advantage.
  • Termination clause: Either party may terminate the engagement with a 30-day notice or pay in lieu thereof.
  • Engagement commences from the date of joining at DGFT.
  • In case of death, illness, or injury during engagement, no compensation or appointment is promised to the YP or next of kin.

Travel & Tour Requirement

Young Professionals may be required to travel anywhere in India. During official tours, they will be entitled to TA/DA as per the entitlement of an Assistant Section Officer (ASO) in the Central Government.
