Eligibility Criteria

Junior Hindi Translator

  • Master’s degree in Hindi or English with the other language as a compulsory or elective subject or medium of examination at the degree level; OR
  • Master’s degree in any subject with English/Hindi medium and Hindi/English as compulsory or elective subject; OR
  • Recognized Diploma/Certificate in translation OR two years' experience of translation work in Government offices.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of one language from the Eighth Schedule, Degree/Diploma in translation.

Hindi Officer

  • Master’s degree in Hindi or English with the other as a compulsory or elective subject; OR
  • Master’s degree in any subject with Hindi or English medium and the other as compulsory/elective subject; OR
  • Three years’ experience in translation or teaching/research in Hindi and English.
  • Desirable: Language knowledge, administrative experience, organizing Hindi workshops or classes.

Selection Process

Junior Hindi Translator

  • Written Examination comprising two papers:
  • Paper I (Objective): 100 MCQs on General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness; Total 300 marks; 1-hour duration; 1 mark negative marking per wrong answer.
  • Paper II (Descriptive): Translation and writing; 300 marks; 2-hour duration.
  • Paper II will be evaluated only for candidates who qualify Paper I with the required cutoff.
  • Final merit will be based on Paper II only.

Hindi Officer

  • Written Test: 300 marks; MCQs; conducted in Hindi; 2-hour duration.
  • Interview: 100 marks.
  • Final selection will be based on 75% weightage of Written Test and 25% of Interview marks.

Examination Centre

The examination will be conducted in Roorkee. The exact date, time, and venue will be intimated to candidates through the official website and registered email/SMS.
