The Office of the Dean, Faculty of International Studies, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), Aligarh – 202002, has invited online applications from Indian Nationals (including Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) Cardholders under Section-7A of the Citizenship Act, 1955) for the temporary appointment of Assistant Professor (Contractual) in Chinese in the Department of Foreign Languages.

The appointment is purely temporary till the end of the Academic Session 2025-26 or till the General Selection Committee is held, whichever is earlier, and is liable to termination at any time without any notice or assignment of reason.

Submit the online application on or before 01-03-2026 (midnight).
After successful submission, take a printout of the PDF Application Form on A4 size paper.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility A

Master’s Degree with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in Chinese from an Indian University or accredited Foreign University.
Must have cleared NET conducted by UGC/CSIR or similar accredited test like SLET/SET.
OR awarded Ph.D. degree in accordance with UGC Regulations 2009 or 2016 (and amendments).

Candidates registered for Ph.D. prior to July 11, 2009 are exempted from NET/SLET/SET subject to specified academic conditions, including regular mode Ph.D., evaluation by external examiners, viva-voce conducted, at least two research papers published (one in refereed journal), and at least two seminar/conference presentations sponsored/funded/supported by UGC/ICSSR/CSIR.

Ph.D. Degree obtained from a foreign University/Institution ranked among top 500 in the World University Ranking by:

Quacquarelli Symonds (QS)
Times Higher Education (THE)
Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU)

5% relaxation in marks at Bachelor’s and Master’s level shall be allowed for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer)/PwD categories as per Government of India rules.

Selection Process
