चिपको आंदोलन मूल रूप से 1970 के दशक में उत्तराखण्ड के वनों की सुरक्षा के लिए वहां के निवासियों द्वारा आरम्भ किया जनांदोलन है। जिसमें लोगों ने पेड़ों को गले लगाया ताकि उन्हें कोई काट न सके। यह उस भाईचारे का प्रतीक है जहां मनुष्य श्वास छोड़ते हैं तो पेड़ श्वास लेते हैं। पेड़ श्वास छोड़ते हैं तो मनुष्य श्वास लेते हैं। आईये चिपको आंदोलन की 49वीं वर्षगांठ पर समस्त चिपको आंदोलकर्ताओं, संरक्षकों व पर्यावरण प्रेमियों को नमन कर मनुष्यों व पेड़ों  के इस भाईचारे को अनवरत बनाए रखने का संकल्प लें।

The Chipko movement is originally a mass movement initiated by its residents to protect the forests of Uttarakhand in the 1970s. In which people hugged trees so that no one could cut them. This is the symbol of brotherhood where trees breathe when humans quit. Trees exhale when humans breathe. Let's salute all the Chipco agitators, patrons and environment lovers on the 49th anniversary of the Chipko movement and take a pledge to maintain this brotherhood of humans and trees.
