धार्मिक मान्यताओं के अनुसार माँ चण्डिका ने इस स्थान पर शुंभ और निशुंभ नाम के दैत्यों का वध किया था। नील शिखर पर्वत पर स्थित होने के कारण इस मन्दिर को नील पर्वत तीर्थ के रूप में भी जाना जाता है। मन्दिर में स्थापित मुख्य मूर्ति को 8वीं शताब्दी में आदि गुरू शंकराचार्य ने स्थापित किया था।

According to religious beliefs, Maa Chandika killed the demons named Shumbha and Nishumbha at this place. Being situated on the Neel Shikhar mountain, this temple is also known as Neel Parvat Teerth. The main idol in the temple was installed by Adi Guru Shankaracharya in the 8th century.

The temple of Maa Chandi Devi is located in Haridwar, Uttarakhand.
