A stampede broke out during actor Vijay’s rally in Karur, Tamil Nadu, in which 38 people have reportedly died and more than 60 others were injured. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief, offered condolences, and wished the injured a speedy recovery. The state government has announced compensation and formed an inquiry committee.
