सीएम धामी ने हरिद्वार स्थित गंगा घाट में आयोजित कार्यक्रम में विभिन्न प्रदेशों से देवभूमि आए कांवड़ियों के चरण धोकर एवं सम्मान स्वरूप गंगा जल भेंट कर उनका स्वागत किया। उन्होंने पौधारोपण कर पर्यावरण संरक्षण एवं स्वच्छ कांवड़ यात्रा का संदेश भी दिया। सीएम धामी ने कहा कि हरिद्वार पूरे देश की श्रद्धा का केंद्र है। इस पवित्र जगह मां गंगा एवं भगवन भोलेनाथ का विशेष आशीर्वाद है। कांवड़ यात्रा को सुगम सुरक्षित बनाने के लिए सरकार कांवड़ियों का सहयोगी बनकर कार्य कर रही है।

कांवड़ यात्रा पर आया हरियाणा निवासी शिवम कांगड़ा घाट के पास गंगा जी में स्नान करते समय तेज़ बहाव के कारण बहने लगा जिस पर एसडीआरएफ के एएसआई दीपक ने नदी में छलांग लगा कर सुरक्षित बाहर निकाला और जान बचायी।

सोनप्रयाग से ऋषिकेश आ रही मैक्स हादसे का शिकार हो गई। हादसा थाना मुनि की रेती के समीप हुआ। मैक्स में 11 लोग सवार थे। हादसे की सूचना मिलते ही पुलिस और एसडीआरएफ की टीम मौके पर पहुंची। हादसे में तीन लोगों की मौके पर मौत हो गई है। जबकि पांच लोगों को खाई से बाहर निकाल दिया है। पुलिस द्वारा अन्य लोगों की तलाश जारी है।
