नई टिहरी और आसपास के ग्रामीण इलाकों में बंदरों की संख्या बढ़ने से उनके आतंक ने लोगों की मुश्किलें बढ़ा दी हैं। खासकर बच्चे और बुजुर्ग घरों से बाहर निकलने में डर रहे हैं। बंदर किसानों की फसलों को नुकसान पहुंचा रहे हैं और घरों में भी सामान तोड़ते नजर आ रहे हैं। वन विभाग द्वारा इस समस्या पर काबू पाने के प्रयास किए जा रहे हैं।
