नैनीताल वन प्रभाग ने जंगलों में आग की घटनाओं को रोकने और रोजगार बढ़ाने के लिए नई पहल की है। चीड़ के सूखे पत्तों (पिरुल) से बिजली और कोयला बनाने के लिए स्थानीय उद्यमियों के साथ करार किया गया है। इससे न केवल पर्यावरण को फायदा होगा, बल्कि पिरुल एकत्र करने वाली महिलाओं को अब ₹10 प्रति किलो की दर से भुगतान भी मिलेगा।

The Nainital Forest Division has launched a new initiative to prevent forest fires and boost employment. Under this plan, local entrepreneurs have signed agreements to produce electricity and charcoal from dry pine needles (Pirul). Women collecting Pirul will now earn ₹10 per kilogram.
