यमुनोत्री विधानसभा क्षेत्र में चिन्यालीसौड़, नौगांव ब्लाॅक और डुंडा ब्लाॅक स्थित ब्रह्मखाल क्षेत्र के गांव स्थित है, जहां कांग्रेस भाजपा ने एक-एक बार जीत हासिल की है तो वहीं उत्तराखण्ड क्रांति दल ने दो बार जीत हासिल की है। यमुनोत्री धाम को यमुना का उद्गम स्थल माना जाता है, इसी विशेषताओं की वजह से इस सीट को वीआईपी श्रेणी मे रखा जाता है।
