Centuries old tradition changed in this temple of Uttarakhand

According to the information, Pitambar Awasthi, President of Yogeshwar Shri Krishna Temple Committee of Sikradani village of Pithoragarh, has established a new tradition and given the responsibility of priest to two women. Women are keeping the Sanatan traditions alive, yet they are not given the responsibility of priests. That is why the committee has appointed women priests in this temple. It is believed that this decision of the committee will prove to be a milestone for others. Due to the stereotypes in the religious field, equal status could not be achieved.
