खबर के अनुसार, उत्तराखंड में जनगणना का पहला चरण 25 अप्रैल से 24 मई के बीच शुरू होने जा रहा है, जिसमें मकानों की गणना और सूचीकरण किया जाएगा, जबकि इस बार लोगों को सेल्फ-गणना की सुविधा भी दी गई है। बताया गया कि यदि नागरिक गलत जानकारी देते हैं या सहयोग नहीं करते हैं तो उन पर जुर्माना लगाया जा सकता है।
