पूर्वोत्तर भारत में कनेक्टिविटी को मजबूती देने वाली बड़ी पहल के तहत मिजोरम की राजधानी आइजोल को रेलमार्ग से जोड़ने वाली बायरबी-सारंग परियोजना अपने अंतिम चरण में है। इस परियोजना के पूरा होने पर सिलचर से आइजोल की यात्रा, जो अब तक सड़क मार्ग से 8 से 10 घंटे में होती थी, घटकर सिर्फ 3 घंटे में संभव हो जाएगी।

As part of a major initiative to strengthen connectivity in Northeast India, the Bairabi-Sairang railway project, which will link Mizoram's capital Aizawl to the national rail network, has reached its final stage. Once operational, it will reduce the Silchar–Aizawl travel time from 8–10 hours to just 3 hours.
