Selection Process

  • Shortlisting based on essential/desirable qualifications, experience, and completeness of the application.

Tenure and Service Conditions

  • Initial tenure: 4 months from the date of joining (extendable based on performance).

  • Termination: Engagement can be terminated anytime without notice; the candidate may resign with one month’s notice.

Roles and Responsibilities (Junior Research Fellow – Assisted Natural Regeneration Project)

  1. Conduct field visits to Assisted Natural Regeneration (ANR) plots periodically.
  2. Prepare site-specific plans as per the annual forestry schedule.
  3. Develop maps and supporting datasets for each site-specific plan.
  4. Perform Rapid Mapping Exercises, rootstock calculations, and carbon stock assessments.
  5. Provide technical/scientific support to SDOs and field staff during ANR operations.
  6. Establish sample plots and record baseline data including soil, regeneration, and species diversity.
  7. Identify and mark seed-bearing trees for record-keeping.
  8. Create and maintain photo/video monitoring points for long-term studies.
  9. Maintain an ANR journal with up-to-date survey data, photographs, and budget information.
  10. Monitor ongoing interventions and report progress to the Divisional Forest Officer.
  11. Identify plots for time-lapse camera monitoring for phenological research.
  12. Conduct sampling and assessment of regeneration in old plots using secondary data.
  13. Organize training and workshops for frontline staff to improve ANR-related skills.
  14. Critically analyze ANR results and recommend measures for improvement.
  15. Identify long-term monitoring indicators and prepare annual progress reports.
  16. Undertake additional forestry and ANR-related works for Haldwani Forest Division.
  17. Perform any other forestry duties assigned by higher officials of the Western Circle, Uttarakhand.
