Selection Process

  1. Scrutiny and shortlisting of applications by the District Child Protection Officer (DCPO).
  2. Personal Interview conducted by a Selection Committee including:
    • Special Judge (POCSO)
    • District Magistrate or Additional Deputy Commissioner
    • Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee (CWC)
    • Subject Expert
    • DCPO (Convener)
  3. Evaluation based on qualification, experience, and personal interaction.
  4. Final recommendation approved by the District Magistrate.

Tenure of Engagement

The empanelment is valid for 3 years and subject to yearly review by the DCPO. The term can be extended beyond 3 years based on performance and recommendation by the District Magistrate.

Remuneration and Allowances

  • ₹600 per visit as fixed allowance.
  • Travel reimbursement available upon submission of valid bills.
  • Monthly remuneration based on number of visits and engagement days.
  • No payment applicable if no work/case is assigned during a month.

Workload and Case Ratio

  • Ratio: 1 Support Person for every 10 cases per district.
  • Each Support Person shall not handle more than 10 cases at a time.

  • Gender preference of the child victim (e.g., female support person) will be respected.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide emotional and psychological support to the child and family.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all case-related details.
  • Coordinate with CWC, police, judiciary, and child protection authorities.
  • Assist in documentation, education continuity, and rehabilitation of the child.
  • Ensure timely updates of case information on the NCPCR “POCSO Tracking Portal.”
  • Submit monthly progress reports to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).

Other Important Information

  • A Support Person shall be appointed unless the child or guardian opts out in writing.
  • Written reasons must be recorded in case of opting out.
  • CWC shall ensure counseling is provided before opting out.
  • DCPO must maintain an updated database of Support Persons on NCPCR portal.
  • Case allocation shall be done by CWC in consultation with DCPU.
  • Monitoring of implementation shall be done by the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR).
  • NCPCR portal data is restricted and accessible only to authorized officials.
