Post Details

  • Designation: Director & Senior Professor
  • Pay Scale: Level 14 as per 7th Central Pay Commission (7th CPC)
  • Allowances: As admissible to Central Government employees stationed at Mumbai
  • Employment Type: Contractual appointment for two years (considering lien of applicant), extendable by one year in exceptional cases

Eligibility Criteria

Essential Qualifications:
  1. M.A./M.Sc. in Demography, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, or Sociology with specialization in Statistics.
  2. Post-graduate training in Demography from an institute of repute in India or abroad.
  3. At least 10 years of experience in Demographic Research, including a minimum of 5 years of teaching experience equivalent to Professor’s rank in a Research Centre, University, or Government Department.
  4. Administrative experience of at least 3 years in a teaching and/or research institute, university, or government department.
Desirable Qualifications:
  1. Doctorate (Ph.D.) degree in Demography.
  2. High-standard research publications in the field of Demography, Population Studies, Economics, and/or Statistics.

Age Limit

Maximum age should not exceed 50 years as on 27 November 2025. The Executive Council may grant relaxation in age for suitable and deserving candidates.

Applications must be submitted in duplicate in the prescribed format, complete in all respects, along with attested copies of educational qualifications, experience, and other supporting documents.

Government employees must apply through proper channel and attach the following documents:

  • Attested copies of Annual Performance Appraisal Reports (APARs) for the last 5 years.
  • Integrity Certificate (in original).
  • Vigilance Clearance Certificate (in original).
  • List of major/minor penalties imposed, if any, in the last 10 years. If none, a "NIL" certificate must be enclosed.
  • Recent Curriculum Vitae (CV).
