Project Details

The recruitment is being conducted for a research project focusing on advanced neuroscience and machine learning applications related to consumer behavior and emotional response analysis.

Project Title Design & Development of an Array of Electroencephalogram (EEG) / functional near Infrared Spectroscopy (FNIRS) integrated with multimodal sensory system to capture, analyse and classify the emotions of consumers for product preferences based on deep learning Neural Networks.
The project focuses on combining physiological sensing technologies such as EEG and fNIRS with multimodal sensory systems to understand consumer emotional responses using artificial intelligence and deep learning algorithms.

Salary Structure

Base Salary Rs. 31,600 – 2,600 – 78,400 per month
Higher starting salary may be considered for exceptionally qualified or experienced candidates as per the rules and regulations of IIT Kanpur.

Eligibility Criteria

Minimum Educational Qualification

Candidates applying for the Project Engineer position must possess an M.Tech degree in any of the following disciplines:

  • Biomedical Engineering
  • Electronics Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Computer Science
  • Artificial Intelligence
Candidates must have an excellent academic record with more than 7.5 CPI or 75% marks in the qualifying degree from a reputed engineering institute.

Responsibilities and Essential Skillset

Candidates applying for the Project Engineer position should possess knowledge and experience related to biosignal acquisition, machine learning, and physiological signal analysis. The following skills and competencies are required for the role:

  • Basic working knowledge of EEG and/or fNIRS systems.
  • Understanding of biosignal acquisition and physiological sensors.
  • Experience with signal acquisition and preprocessing of EEG or other physiological signals using Python or MATLAB.
  • Working knowledge of machine learning techniques for classification and pattern recognition.
  • Experience with multimodal data acquisition involving physiological signals.
  • Ability to work with physiological signals such as heart rate monitoring.
  • Knowledge of SpO₂ measurement systems.
  • Understanding of skin conductance measurement systems (GSR / EDA).
  • Experience with vision-based systems for data acquisition.
  • Comfort with experimental setup and data collection for human-subject studies.
  • Proper documentation of experiments and data collection procedures.
  • Exposure to deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools.
