Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must possess the essential educational qualifications and relevant experience as specified for each post. Candidates are advised to ensure eligibility before applying. The Screening Committee will shortlist candidates based on qualifications and experience as per institutional requirements.

Age Limit

• Upper Age Limit: 28 years (as on 29 December 2025)
• Relaxations:
• SC/ST: 5 years
• OBC: 3 years
• PwBD: 10 to 15 years (depending on category)
• Widows / Divorced / Judicially Separated Women: Up to 35 years (40 years for SC/ST)

Reservation Details

Reservations are applicable for SC, ST, OBC (NCL), EWS, PwBD, and Ex-Servicemen categories as per Government of India rules. Candidates must attach valid certificates in the prescribed formats as annexed in the notification.

Application Fees

• General / OBC / EWS: ₹500 (Non-refundable) via Demand Draft or Banker’s Cheque in favour of “The Director, CSIR-IHBT, Palampur (H.P.)”, payable at Palampur.
• SC / ST / Women / PwBD / Ex-Servicemen: Exempted from fee payment.

Selection Process

The selection process includes a Trade Test followed by a Written Competitive Examination (OMR/Computer-based). The written examination will consist of objective-type multiple-choice questions divided into Papers I, II, and III for Technical Assistant and two papers for Technician (1).
