Pay Scale & Benefits

Pay Matrix Level: Level-6 (7th Central Pay Commission)

Pay Scale: ₹35,400 – ₹1,12,400 per month

In addition to basic pay, the post carries usual Central Government allowances such as Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA), Medical Reimbursement, Leave Travel Concession (LTC), Children Education Allowance, New Pension Scheme (NPS – 2004), Personal Computer Advance, and House Building Advance as applicable to CSIR employees.

Job Location

The primary place of posting is Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. However, selected candidates are liable to serve at any of the CSIR-CIMAP Research Centres located at Lucknow, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pantnagar, Purara (District Bageshwar) or anywhere in India as per organizational requirements.

Eligibility Criteria

Essential Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from a recognized university in Hindi or English, with the other language as a compulsory or elective subject or as a medium of examination at the degree level;
  • OR Master’s degree in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi or English as medium and the other language as a compulsory or elective subject at degree level;
  • AND a recognized Diploma or Certificate course in translation from Hindi to English and vice-versa OR two years’ experience of translation work from Hindi to English and vice-versa in Central or State Government offices, including Government of India undertakings.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Knowledge of one language other than Hindi mentioned in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.
  • Degree or Diploma in translation from Hindi to English and vice-versa from a recognized university.

Age Limit

Minimum age is 18 years and maximum age is 30 years for Unreserved candidates as on the closing date of online application submission (20 February 2026).

Age Relaxation

  • SC/ST/OBC (NCL): As per Government of India rules.
  • PwBD: 10 years (15 years for SC/ST and 13 years for OBC-NCL).
  • Ex-Servicemen: As per GOI/CSIR rules.
  • Widows, Divorced Women and Women Judicially Separated from their Husbands (not remarried): Up to 35 years (UR) and up to 40 years (SC/ST).

Selection Process

Selection will be made through an open written competitive examination consisting of two papers:

  • Paper-I: Objective type (OMR or Computer Based Test)
  • Paper-II: Descriptive paper assessing translation and writing skills

Paper-II will be evaluated only for candidates who qualify Paper-I. Final merit will be prepared solely on the basis of marks obtained in Paper-II. The written examination will be conducted at Lucknow.
