Central Bank of India Recruitment 2026 – Deputy Internal Ombudsman (Contract Basis)

IO) on a contractual basis. The bank, powered by a workforce of over 34,000 employees, is inviting applications from eligible retired or serving officers with extensive experience in banking and financial regulatory frameworks.

Age Limit

Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant should be a retired or serving officer in the rank equivalent to a Deputy General Manager in any of the following organizations:
    • Commercial Banks
    • Payments Banks
    • Small Finance Banks
    • Credit Information Companies covered under the Internal Ombudsman framework
    • Financial Sector Regulatory Bodies
  • Candidates must have minimum five years of experience in areas such as:
    • Banking
    • Non-Banking Finance
    • Regulation
    • Supervision
    • Payment and Settlement Systems
    • Credit Information
    • Consumer Protection
  • If the applicant is currently serving in an organization, he or she must relinquish the current position before assuming charge as Deputy Internal Ombudsman.
  • The Deputy Internal Ombudsman cannot be employed simultaneously in more than one commercial bank, payments bank, small finance bank, credit information company, or financial sector regulatory body covered under the Internal Ombudsman framework.

Selection Process

Leave Policy

  • The Deputy Internal Ombudsman will be eligible for 12 days of leave per year.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • The office of the Internal Ombudsman will not directly handle complaints received from complainants or the public.
  • It will examine complaints that have already been reviewed by the bank but are partially resolved or rejected.
  • The Deputy Internal Ombudsman will not represent the bank in legal cases before courts or authorities.
  • Authority to decide complaints will be defined by policies approved by the Customer Service Committee of the Board.
  • The office may recommend compensation as per RBI Integrated Ombudsman Scheme guidelines.
  • Compensation may include consequential loss, loss of time, expenses incurred, harassment or mental agony suffered by the complainant.
  • Quarterly analysis of complaint patterns based on product, category, consumer group, and geographical location must be conducted.
  • The office will provide recommendations for policy changes and improvements in complaint handling.
  • The Deputy Internal Ombudsman will have read-only access to the RBI Complaint Management System.
  • Functionally reports to the Internal Ombudsman.
