NLUD Justice for Children Litigation Fellowship 2025–26

The National Law University Delhi (NLUD), under its Chair on Justice for Children in collaboration with UNICEF, invites applications for the NLUD Justice for Children Litigation Fellowship. This program aims to build a cadre of young, well-trained, child-sensitive lawyers committed to improving access to justice for children in need of care and protection, and children in conflict with the law through quality legal aid services.

Eligibility Criteria

Essential Qualifications

  • Law Graduate (LL.B. or B.A.LL.B.)
  • Updated knowledge of substantive and procedural child rights laws, including the POCSO Act and Juvenile Justice Act.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in child rights litigation.
  • Proficiency in drafting, pleading, and arguing cases before child-oriented forums in Jammu and Kashmir.

Desirable Qualifications

  • LL.M. or equivalent Master’s degree in Law.
  • Research experience and proficiency in legal writing.
  • Proficiency in MS Word and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities of Litigation Fellows

  • Attend training and capacity-building sessions organized by the Litigation Fellowship Supervisor.
  • Handle cases related to children in need of care and protection, and children in conflict with the law assigned by the Supervisor. This includes meeting the child and family, preparing and filing court submissions, arguing cases, and providing updates.
  • Submit weekly case reports in the prescribed format to the Supervisor.
  • Participate in monthly review sessions (online and offline) with the Supervisor.
  • Submit brief notes for publication in the quarterly newsletter under “Notes from the Field,” highlighting the fellows’ experiences, successes, and challenges.
