Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

• Graduate in Commerce with specialization in Accounting from a recognized University with at least 50% marks.
• Must have computer knowledge in Accounting Software (Tally), MS Office, Excel, PageMaker, ERP, etc.

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years' experience in accounting and record keeping in any Higher Learning Institution.

Desirable Qualification

• Knowledge of handling Public Financial Management System (PFMS).

Age Limit

• Minimum Age: 18 years
• Maximum Age: 40 years (as on 01 January 2025)
• Age relaxation as per Government of Assam rules for SC, ST, OBC, MOBC, Ex-Servicemen, and Persons with Disabilities.

Application Process

1. Download the prescribed application form from the official website: www.astu.ac.in
2. Fill the form carefully and attach the required documents.
3. Superscribe the envelope with: “Application for the post of ‘Name of the Post (Post Code)’”.
4. Send the completed form to:
   The Registrar,
   Assam Science and Technology University,
   Tetelia Road, Jalukbari, Guwahati-781013, Assam.
5. Attach two passport-size photographs and two self-addressed envelopes.
6. Submit only one application per post.
7. Experience certificate must be on the organization’s letterhead with date of issue, period of work, name, and designation of the issuing authority with signature.
8. Date of Birth proof shall be based on HSLC/Matriculation certificate only.

Selection Process

The selection for the post of Accountant will be based on:

• Written Test followed by Skill Test.
• The written examination will consist of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ).

Syllabus for Written Test:

• English Aptitude Test
• Accountancy
• General Knowledge – Assam, India, Current Affairs, Environment, and International Affairs
• Numerical Ability and Logical Reasoning

The written test will shortlist candidates for the skill test. Final selection will be made after evaluating skill test performance.

General Terms and Instructions

• Appointment will be up to 60 years of age and subject to university rules.
• Candidates must be registered in any Employment Exchange of Assam.
• Incomplete applications or those submitted after the last date shall not be considered.
• The University reserves the right to cancel or modify the recruitment process at any stage.
• Eligibility and short-listing criteria shall be determined as of the last date of submission (except age, which will be as on 01/01/2025).
• Experience certificate should be in proper format as described in the notification.
• The University may verify documents and antecedents at any stage; if any discrepancy is found, the application may be cancelled or services terminated.
• Inadvertent mistakes in the selection process may be corrected at any time without prior notice.
• Applicants already employed must produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the employer during document verification.
• Canvassing in any form will disqualify the candidate.
• No TA/DA will be paid for appearing in the written or skill test.
• No interim correspondence will be entertained.
• All disputes shall fall under the jurisdiction of Guwahati, Assam.
