Eligibility Criteria

Project Research Scientist – II (Non-Medical)

Educational Qualification
  • First Class Postgraduate Degree (including integrated PG degree) in Life Sciences / Biotechnology / Bioinformatics / Microbiology / Data Science / Biostatistics / Computational Biology or related discipline with three years of research or data management experience.
  • OR PhD in relevant subject from a recognized university.
Essential Experience
  • Clinical research data management in biomedical or translational research projects.
  • Designing and maintaining research databases such as REDCap, SQL or Excel-based validated systems.
  • Handling multi-modal datasets including microbiology, genomic and clinical metadata.
  • Data cleaning, validation, audit trails and quality assurance compliant with ICMR and GCP standards.
  • Statistical data handling using R, Python, SPSS, STATA or equivalent.
  • Preparation of datasets for regulatory submissions, publications and collaborative analysis.
  • Ensuring data security, anonymization and ethical compliance in human subject research.
Candidates must have at least five first-author or corresponding-author SCI publications in relevant fields.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience in surveillance datasets, genomics or AI-enabled clinical research platforms.
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks and FAIR data principles.
  • Experience in biomedical data repositories.
  • Exposure to machine learning dataset preparation and validation workflows.
  • Experience working in multi-institutional collaborative projects.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and ethical documentation for ICMR/DHR funded studies.

Project Research Scientist – I (Non-Medical)

Educational Qualification
  • First Class Postgraduate Degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Life Sciences or related discipline.
  • OR Second Class Postgraduate Degree with PhD in a relevant subject from a recognized university.
Essential Experience
  • Nucleic acid extraction from clinical or microbial samples.
  • PCR, RT-PCR or qRT-PCR assay design, optimization and analysis.
  • Next-Generation Sequencing workflows including library preparation and quality control.
  • Coordination of sequencing runs.
  • ELISA and other immunoassays for biomarker or pathogen-related studies.
  • Gel electrophoresis and molecular cloning.
  • Assay validation.
  • Processing infectious or clinical specimens under appropriate biosafety conditions.
  • Maintenance of laboratory SOPs, documentation and quality assurance.
Candidates must have at least three first-author or corresponding-author SCI publications in relevant fields.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience in metagenomics and antimicrobial resistance gene detection.
  • Molecular pathogen profiling.
  • Familiarity with NGS data interpretation.
  • Experience integrating molecular outputs with clinical datasets.
  • Exposure to translational research in antimicrobial resistance, diagnostics or device validation.
  • Publications in peer-reviewed journals and strong scientific writing skills.
  • Experience working in interdisciplinary collaborative environments.

  • Maximum age limit: 40 years

Tenure of the Post

The appointment will be purely contractual for an initial period of 11 months. The tenure may be extended depending upon the rules and regulations of MRU and the Department of Health Research (DHR).

General Terms and Conditions

  • The vacancies are sanctioned by the Department of Health Research (DHR) for the Multi-Disciplinary Research Unit.
  • Recruitment will be conducted through assessment test and interview.
  • Selected candidates must join within 7 days of the declaration of results.
  • Candidates employed in Government or research organizations must submit their applications through proper channel along with No Objection Certificate.
  • Incomplete applications or applications received after the due date will not be considered.
  • Experience must have been gained after acquiring the minimum essential qualification.
  • Submission of false or incorrect information during the selection process will lead to disqualification.
  • The decision of the Recruitment Committee will be final.
  • No TA or DA will be paid for attending the interview.

Service Related Terms and Conditions

  • Recruitment will be on contractual basis with consolidated remuneration as per DHR guidelines.
  • Initial appointment will be for a period of 11 months.
  • Employment is temporary and will automatically cease after the completion of the term unless renewed.
  • The post does not constitute permanent employment with AIIMS Rishikesh.
  • No claim for regular employment in AIIMS Rishikesh will be entertained.
  • No additional allowances or facilities other than the consolidated salary will be provided.
  • Applicable central or state government taxes will be deducted at source.
  • The selected candidate will work under the supervision of the Nodal Officer, MRU.
  • If the performance of the candidate is not satisfactory, the appointment may be terminated without prior notice or compensation.
  • The candidate may leave the job by giving one month prior notice or depositing one month's salary if notice period is less.
  • The Director of AIIMS Rishikesh reserves the right to interpret any terms and conditions.
  • The jurisdiction for legal matters will be Rishikesh only.
