The doors of Hemkund Sahib, the main pilgrimage site of Sikhs located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, will be closed for winter on October 11. The doors of Hemkund Sahib were opened on 20 May this year. Since then, two lakh, 27 thousand 500 devotees have paid obeisance at Hemkund Sahib. When the doors of Hemkund Sahib were opened, there was heavy snowfall here. Before the opening of the doors, army personnel had made way for the devotees through the snow.
